Klimerko is an open-source and open hardware IoT device created at DESCON 4.0 in 2018, inspired by the ever-increasing air pollution witnessed across the globe.
The device contains sensors that measure air quality (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), humidity and temperature.
In 2019 and the winter of 2020 (BC = Before COVID), Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, was the most polluted city in the world on numerous occasions (according to “AirVisual” data), behind the likes of Beijing and New Delhi. Other cities in Serbia also began to appear in the top polluted cities list, and yet, citizens were not aware of the very environment they were living in.
Striving to bring greater awareness of the situation to the community, we launched the “Vazduh Gradjanima” (Air to the People) citizen initiative to engage and empower citizens to build a network of sensors in Serbia.
